Facts:

• Worldwide a woman dies every 90 seconds from complications of childbirth- 90% of these deaths are preventable.

• Current estimates of maternal mortality in Ethiopia is 875 deaths per 100,00 live births-one of the highest in the world.

• In rural Ethiopia, only 3% of childbirths are attended by skilled professionals.

Plan:

• Provide scholarships to women from throughout the Mudula/Tembaro area to attend midwifery school.

• To build a specialized maternal child health center in the center of Tembaro district.
